Back to Beds

Okay, people. I'll admit it. I almost completely caved this weekend. I came sooo close to calling it quits on my antique bed hunt.

I was tempted by this...

It's the Coleman bed at Pottery Barn. I know, I know. It's ridiculous to spend $800 on a bed frame for a middle schooler, but it's so good-looking. And, it's shiny and new with a vintage vibe. And, as my son said, "now I don't have to have a bed that someone might have died in."

That Pottery Barn sure does know how to lure you in. But, just as I was close to convincing myself that this was indeed a logical decision, I spotted this...

Good ole Ikea comes through with this amazing option. I noticed it was used in the Southern Living Idea House...

And, it's only $169. What?? I'm sold. I told my husband we needed to road trip to IKEA (the closest one is 2 hours away) and bring that bad boy home. I have to get this room going, and I can't very well do anything until I have a bed for it.

Well, just as I'm mentally mapping out our trip to IKEA... which would, of course, include stops at Ballard Designs and PB outlets (how much fun is this going to be??)...

I decide to check craigslist one more time.

(I know. I can't help myself. I've still got a little "hunt" left in me.)

What did I find, you might ask. Or not.

I'll tell you. I found a very promising option for 50 bucks. I'm going to see it tomorrow. So, if you could all send me some good vibes tomorrow around 1pm, I would be eternally grateful.

If the craigslist bed is a winner, it will save me money, time and effort. Of course, it also means my shopping road trip is cancelled.

Which is a big bummer because I noticed that this week's doorbuster at the West Chester Ballard Designs Outlet is the Macau Arm Chair.

Regular price: $249. Doorbuster Price: $69.99.

So, if anyone heads to the West Chester BD Outlet this week, grab me one of these and I'll pay you back, okay?

Hopefully, I'll be back tomorrow with a new, old bed. Fingers crossed.

  1. I think you're smart to 'hunt'! I spend too much money by going for the quick choice and it's not always the right one.

  2. I know, the "hunt" can seem so discouraging at times, but if you can hold out, it pays off BIG time! I know, I do it all the time. I SO like instant gratification, but I SO like even MORE, holding out, and getting the huge reward in the end, with more money in my pocket, and the same great look I wanted! Be strong, little one, lol!

  3. Are you going to the one in Atlanta? The Ballard Outlet there is amazing! That ikea bed is so great and I think I like it better than the PB one!!! Great job!
