Very Pinteresting: Dutch Doors (And a winner!)

Happy Monday! Hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving!  I want to thank everyone who entered my Shabby Apple giveaway last week. The winner, chosen by random.org, is ...

curliecue

Congrats, curliecue!  I'll e-mail you with details soon. Can't wait to hear if you choose the dress or the skirt :)

We were out of town visiting family for the Thanksgiving holiday, so now I'm busy unpacking, doing laundry and getting ready to deck the halls! So, today I thought I'd share some pictures I recently "pinned."

What is it about dutch doors that makes them so darn charming? I love the character they exude.

Love the transom above this one.

My dog would definitely be perched in the same spot.

Our climate and insect situation doesn't lend itself favorably to exterior dutch doors, but an interior one is a great idea.

I think these dutch doors make you feel that you're about to enter some place very special. What do you think? Have you or would you "go dutch?"

  1. I've always wanted a Dutch door since I was a child - maybe it reminded me of Hansel and Gretel or something (was there even a Dutch door involved?)

  2. I love dutch doors too. They're so cottagey! I always wished I had one for Halloween. It would make it easier when trick or treaters come to the door and I would'nt have to worry about my dog getting out.

  3. Dutch doors are so charming, and they add such character. They remind me of my Grandma's farm from many years ago.
    Thanks for sharing, Carolyn!

  6. We had a dutch door in an old farm house that we renovated. It wasn't there originally, but we got it out of a house that was being remodeled and the owners didn't want it anymore! It was great to have, but it was funny because we had a Saint Bernard that used to come up on the porch and stand up and hang over the door looking in!

  7. I grew up in a house with a Dutch front door. Just about all our childhood photos seem to have been taken with us leaning over the bottom half of the door, just like the dog in the one picture. This post made me all nostalgic! x Sharon
