Decorating with Horseshoes

Feeling lucky? If not, perhaps you should hang a horseshoe above your door.

Legend says that a horseshoe hung over a door invites luck into the home and keeps the devil away.

I figured since we screwed up our "chi" by putting a bed in front of the window, I'd invite a little luck into our home with a horseshoe over our side entry door.

Plus, I like its rustic, farmhouse appeal. Good luck charming, I'd say!

  1. They are charming! My mom was very particular about having one. Maybe I should search for one too...

  2. Ooh, now I want to run out and find one of my own to hang! The picture of the cottage/shed made me cringe though. Never hang a horse shoe upside down or the luck runs out!

  3. Cute. We have small crosses in our door frames. It's an old tradition with a similar purpose.

  4. Looks perfect there! I bought a St. Brigid's cross in Ireland last year and have to hang it over my door! Something to be said for old traditions!

  6. I didn't know this. You will have to keep us posted about the good luck, and goodness knows I don't need the devil in my house. If it works for you, I will get one, and they are kinda cute, too!
