I left this mess in the house to dry...
I'm outside doing this...
Just thought I'd show you a quick little update we made to our mudroom last night. We removed this ugly fluorescent ceiling light...
and installed this new fixture from Rejuvenation...
Ahhh.... much better! Ignore the holes in the ceiling. We'll get those filled in the next few years days.
It's just a small change, but it makes me smile. Hope someone or something makes you smile today, too :)
You may have heard that I went a little wild yesterday and painted over my ugly laminate countertop with chalk paint. I know. I'm such a rebel, aren't I? Well, I'm back to tell you that I didn't have any regrets in the morning :)
The second coat of wax is drying on the countertop as I write this post. It seems pretty well-sealed at the moment, but I'll be sure to let you know how it stands up to real-life use and abuse.
The rim around the sink area was very difficult to paint. I'm going to replace the faucet, so I'll paint and wax that area better when the old faucet comes out.
Hopefully these photos are more pleasing to the eye now that I've reattached the cabinet doors.
I'm looking forward to picking out some fun new knobs. I'd also like to put a fabric skirt around the end of the countertop so I can hide the dog food underneath it. I'll be looking for suggestions on how to do that from some of you amazing seamstresses.
I love the new color of the cabinet, and I wish I could be painting the upper cabinets right now. However, we're taking a mini-vacation this weekend and I need to actually use the laundry room for its intended purpose. Piles of dirty clothes are calling out to me!
I'll be back with updated photos and a little tutorial on painting cabinetry next week!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for leaving such sweet comments! You're the best :)
